-Announcement on the Norikura Homestay Opportunity -

We Had Our Ultrasound Thyroid Gland Checks.

2015-5-31

Dr. Takeuchi, who is a member of the board of the Matsumoto Project, kindly came to Matsumoto City the day before the general meeting and conducted our ultrasound thyroid examinations.

In order to take advantage of this rare occasion, we invited everyone from the families who evacuated to Nagano as well. Among those who came were the people who still have not undergone a screening or who have not had one in a few years.

Upon hearing the results of the scan, some of the mothers must have felt so relieved that they were even brought to tears.

I think that having the children go through the screening at least once a year and then continuing to observe their condition helps bring the parents peace of mind after all, so we would like to hold the thyroid screenings, as well as general health monitoring, regularly in the future.

An Interview Article Featuring our staff member Be-chan (Karibe-san) was published in the Chūnichi Newspaper.

Be-chan is from Hokkaido.

She has been helping the children of Belarus who were recuperating their health in Hokkaido through the “NPO ‘Bridge to Chernobyl’” activities led by Noro Mika-san.

Back then, she was quite young, but now, she is helping children, just like her mother.

She has a very friendly personality, so she is one of the staff members that is adored by the girls as well (^^)

Helping with Farm Work -

Helping with Farm Work

Yesterday, one of the girls came to my house to stay over.

Since it was just in time for working on the grapes and vegetable garden, she helped us.

I learned a little bit about the excellence of this girl’s way of learning.

Normally, if I’m asked “How do you do this~?”, then it ends at “You cut this and this~”.

But, she said “You cut this and this~! Okay, I’m going to try doing it, so watch me!”.

And then, as she was actually trying to do it, even more questions came.

Then, by doing that, even more things to teach appeared.

Once she was taught, the girl tried doing it again.

In that way, conversing back and forth, she was gradually becoming more skillful.

I was impressed by her way of asking questions to get better at doing things. “This way of asking questions is the way to improvement, isn’t it~” I thought admiringly.

She also helped us with the farm work at her own home.

She worked hard for us until the sun was just about to set.

Because the farm work seemed fun, I think I’ll have her help me again sometimes (^^)
